Ted Kern, 84, of Everett, Washington passed away on Thursday May 11, 2017. Ted was born in Keyser, West Virginia on April 9, 1933, and graduated from Keyser High School in May of 1951. Ted came to Washington State after being discharged from the Air Force and lived here until his death. He and his partner successfully owned and operated Currin Greene Shoe Co., wholesale industrial footwear until retirement in 1999. He loved the outdoors and often took road trips throughout the U.S, always stopping in West Virginia and Maryland to catch up with family and friends. He could be found pursuing any of his many other passions: playing pool with his friends at the Everett Senior Center, reading, sharing his knowledge of hunting with others, completing wood-working projects, flying radio controlled airplanes or enjoying a meal with friends. Ted was very talented, adored life, and devotedly served his country during the Korean War, receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1961. He will be remembered lovingly by his wife, Chris, of 30 years on October 9, 2017. Ted will also be fondly remembered by his many family members and friends. The four-pronged fork, a gift from his aunt, the notepad, pen, and toothpick, always found in his shirt pocket will surely bring smiles to some who knew him. Go safely to God's heavenly kingdom, Ted. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday May 24, 2017, at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Everett, under the care of Solie Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to UW Medicine Regional Heart Center/Adult Congenital Heart Disease Fund.
