Steven Doyle Thompson 1956-2017

May 5, 1956 — August 21, 2017

May 5, 1956 - August 21, 2017 Steven Doyle Thompson, 61, died on August 21, 2017 in Everett, Washington. He was born May 5, 1956 in Naches, Washington to Ted and Roberta Thompson, as the eldest of three children. In school he excelled at track and baseball. As a young adult, he traveled the US on motorbike, was an amateur boxer and served in the U.S. Air Force. He played short stop on the Rainer's baseball team and would later coach baseball and softball for his children. He began a career in welding and later advanced into old school machining. He purchased MEB MFG in 1999 and is a well-liked businessman in the Everett community. Steve had many active hobbies that he would share with his fianc, Monique, including boating, fishing, scuba diving, spear fishing, hunting, camping and skiing. He especially loved taking friends and grandchildren out on the boat as well as taking yearly fishing trips with friends to Alaska. He was also the first to sign up for dangerous activities such as sky diving and soaring over a 200' ravine on a self-made zip line. He was an avid Mariners and Seahawks fan and also rebuilt classic cars. Steve always helped those in need, including learning sign language to communicate with his deaf uncle and later, charities. He and his fianc participated in Salmon for Soldiers as well as the Lions Club Blind Derby. Steve's generosity touched any and everyone he came in contact with. Each year he would close shop, and treat his employees to a weekend of fishing in Neah Bay. And after working long weeks, he still made time to help those who were in need. Steve had so much life left to live, including anxiously awaiting a marriage in the upcoming months. He worked day in and day out his whole life with fire dedication to his work. He had just began the process of selling his business to a trusted employee, with plans to retire in the next five years and travel. In addition to his fianc, Monique Koval; he is survived by his mother and father; as well as brother, Dave and sister, Karen; his son, Jason (Stacy) Thompson; daughter, Amy (Peter) Rosser; daughter, Sarah; and stepson, Tanner. He also had four granddaughters, Savannah, Lorelei, Cassie, and Peyton. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Solie Funeral Home in Everett, followed by a celebration of life at Bayside Marine from 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Food and drinks will be served.
