Robert Emmett Flynn, Ii

July 22, 1963 — March 11, 2024

Robert Emmett Flynn II, 60, passed away early in the morning on March 11, 2024 at his home in Edmonds, WA. He was born on July 22, 1963, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late Robert Emmett Flynn and Sharon Marie Doherty.

A proud alumnus of UC Riverside, Rob held a B.A. in Economics, a foundation that led him through a varied career from the mercantile exchange in Chicago to real estate investment in Seattle. In his final years, Rob embraced his love for craftsmanship, turning his woodworking hobby into a career in construction and home renovation.

Rob was a man of many talents and passions. A gifted musician and poet, he found joy in strumming the guitar and crafting limericks that could make any room light up. His love for woodwork and transforming homes was paralleled only by his love for his children, Shannon Molly Flynn and Robert Emmett Flynn III (Emmett), whom he regarded as his greatest achievements. Shannon, a force in the non-profit theatre world in NYC, and Emmett, a visionary in marketing for a national streaming service, are living testaments to the aspects of life Rob hoped to nurture.

Rob's legacy is one of complexity and love, embodying the spirit of living in the moment. His optimistic outlook and vibrant search for joy left an indelible mark on all who knew him, teaching us to cherish the beauty of now and the potential of what could be. In honoring Rob's life, the family encourages friends and loved ones to embrace life soberly as often as you can.

Rob is survived by his daughter Shannon, his son Emmett, his daughter-in-law McKenna, and his grandchildren, Lucy Joy and an expected granddaughter. He is also survived by his sister Kathleen Flynn Urrea (Ray Urrea), niece and nephew Julianne and Kristopher Urrea. Rob joins his parents and his sister Molly in rest, who he missed very much.

A memorial service will be held in late July in Coloma, MI, where Rob will be laid to rest alongside his parents and sister. If you’d like to give to the family, send flowers, or share stories of his life please visit his memorial website https://everloved.com/life-of/robert-flynn/ or contact Shannon at shannonmollyflynn@gmail.com.

Rob leaves behind a legacy that will forever inspire us to live fully and soberly and to always love deeply. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
