Norman W. Barrans, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and Vietnam Era U.S. Army veteran, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 4, 2024, in Everett, Washington, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on June 11, 1949, Norm devoted his life to his family, friends, and a career that showcased his dedication and passion.
Throughout his professional journey, Norm had the privilege of working for General Telephone, GTE, GTE NW, and Verizon, where he donned many hats, most notably as a lineman. His passion for technology shone through in his love for fiberoptic cable, which he enjoyed learning about and working with.
Norm was known for his kind and generous spirit, which left a lasting impact on those who knew him. His unique laugh was a memorable hallmark, bringing joy to family gatherings and shared moments with friends. Norm's enthusiasm extended beyond his career; he cherished time spent with family and friends, relishing his role as a supportive figure in their lives.
A devoted sports fan, he had a particular love for the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners. Norm was also an avid music lover, with a special appreciation for the Beatles. He enjoyed traveling and was proud of his Irish heritage. These passions colored his life and enriched the experiences he shared with loved ones.
Norm is survived by his wife Jeanne, children Paul, Eric, and Colleen, and his grandchildren Mercedes, Mason, Madelyn, Finley, Paige, and Henry. He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Blake, Everleigh, and Bodhi, who brought immense joy to his life. His brother, David Barrans and wife Julie, of Vancouver, Washington, and sister Darla Stoughton and husband Andy, of Harrisville, Pennsylvania, along with numerous extended family members, also survive him.
As we remember Norm, his legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering support for his family will continue to be honored by those he loved deeply.
A celebration of life luncheon will be held on Sunday, December 29th, 2024 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Shawn O’Donnell’s in Everett, WA. Please RSVP to an immediate family member.
Additionally, a memorial prayer service will be held on Monday, December 30th, at 11:00am at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Everett, WA. No RSVP necessary.
