Nancy Kathleen (Hurst) Densmore was welcomed into Heaven by our Lord , Jesus Christ on November 23, 2024. She was 72 years old. Nancy was greeted by her parents, Orville and Verda, her sister Jeannie, and brother Dwight who passed on before her. She was a sister to Russell (wife Janet), Norman (wife MaryKay), Dwight (dec,) (wife Sheila), Marlyce (husband Dale), Joyce (husband Rich) and Jeannie (dec.). She grew up in a close and hard-working, honest family that would help a stranger in the middle of the night, during a blizzard, if they needed a motel room. At Draper, SD high school, she played the saxophone and then later, the piano, often receiving requests to play from visitors in our home. Nancy grew up in rural South Dakota, and then later lived in Massachusetts, Wyoming, Colorado, and then Washington state while married to her husband Donald Densmore (deceased 2016).
She grew up with good morals and values and learned early on the pride of hard work.During her life, she had many jobs for which she applied herself just as much. Whether it was helping at the family motel, working the lunch counter at Woolworths, customer service at Country General, a farm and ranch store In Greeley, Colorado, or rotating shifts at the Kodak film plant in Windsor, Colorado, Nancy was a hard worker who brought comraderie and pleasantness to everyone she met. She was always willing to work any shift and there was not a time I can recall that she called in sick or missed a day.
Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, cooking, gardening, card games, going out to eat, and raising her three children. Nancy’s cheerfulness was a trait that many friends will remember her by. She was a devout Catholic and later, Christian, attending church as much as and as often as she could. Her faith was apparent in her participation in worship, singing, and socializing. She wrote to God in her journals, and lived a true Christian life of honesty and integrity. She created a home that was cozy and inviting, spending many years primarily as a homemaker. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her great joy. She is survived by her three children, Chris (wife Liz), Jason, and Heather, and grandchildren Kivrin, Ian, Travis, and Sydney. Nancy chose to be cremated; her spirit is with her family and flying kites on the beach, while a release of her ashes will take place at a future time and place to be determined.
