Mary Jane "Janie" Whited was born in the microscopic town of Elmo, Missouri to Mary and Harold Whited on April 23, 1956. Janie passed away in Seattle on March 7, 2019. She was the youngest of five siblings Jo of Broomfield, Colorado, and her brothers Jack of Castlerock, Colorado and Ben of Yukon, Oklahoma. Her sister Beth preceded her in death. Janie like to say she had been an artist since birth. Her abundant and ethereal birds and trees populating her paintings and drawings could transport the viewer into a different world of natural laws. A place unexpectedly beautiful and calming. Often healing. She was big on healing, and had a lot of practice in the second part of her life. A head injury, esophageal cancer, water on the lungs and a hole in her aorta, to name a few. It was her strength of spirit and her love of life that carried her through, and these are what we remember of her. That, and her prodigious talent, whether painting, woodworking, playing drums or horn. Janie's joy was infectious and brought happiness to all she met. Go in peace, Babygirl, we love you.
