Mark Andrew Smith-"Hides behind The Clouds" Born in Blackfoot, Idaho on November 17, 1968, passed away suddenly on Saturday May 1, 2021 at Providence Hospital in Everett, WA,due to complications from Covid pneumonia. Mark graduated from Chemawa Indian School in Salem, OR in 1988 where he played football and went on to earn his Associates degree from ITT Technical Institute. Mark was a loving and dedicated Husband, Son, Brother, Father, Uncle, Grandpa, and friend. He was known to lift his family up during difficult times and became an Ordained Minister to officiate weddings for his family members and friends. Mark enjoyed making people laugh, no matter what he was going through. He was humble, wise and was passionate about his heritage as an enrolled member of the Gros Ventre tribe of Ft.Belknap and decendent of Eastern Shoshone tribe. He found his calling through his involvement in the Native community by singing/drumming at Pow-wows across the nation (for nearly 40 yrs) and taught Native youth about the drum at local tribal schools. Mark was a talented singer, drummer and artist. He sung with the "SongCatchers," Nation Singers, "White Eagle", and "TwoBirdz," groups. Mark was proud of his sobriety as he'd been sober for 15 yrs and 10 mos. In addition to Mark having countless friends and talents, he was a leader within his family and honored his family in any way he could. Everyone who knew him knew they could call on him in their time of need and he was happy to help. Mark had positive energy and quick-witted humor was a big part of his personality. In addition to Mark being funny he was a genuinely thoughtful and kind person who absolutely adored his wife, Mishella. Mark will truly be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him and he has, undeniably, left his impression the world. May we never forget the legacy he has left to all of us, A'ho. Mark is preceded in death by Father: David L Smith Sr.. Brothers: David L. Smith Jr., Bartholomew Smith, Amos Arquette III. Sisters: Esther Smith and Martha Smith. Mark is survived by: Mother: Wilma, Spouse (of 16 yrs) Mishella, Sons: Mark Jr., Brian, Andrew and Step-Sons: Nate, and Gerald. Sisters: Deborah and Diana. Grandchildren: Kyruin, Kalena, Soriya, Andrew Jr., Greyson, Quill, and Step- Grandchildren: Travis, Crystal, Ivy, Royce, & BlueGrace. Neices: Angela, Deborah "Cookie", Jennifer, Marilyn, Victoria, Antoinette, Tara, Tonya, Alex, Adelita, Charmaine, Veronica, Melinda, Missy, and Patricia. Nephews: Richard, Shaun, Lorenzo, Hiram, Jose and Anthony. Ex-partners: Suzie and Valerie, as well as many extended family members. Viewing/funeral services will be held Saturday May, 8th, 2021 from 10am-2pm @Solie Funeral Home in Everett, WA.
