Lorelei Lamarca James

September 19, 1956 — January 30, 2019

Lorelei Lamarca James, age 62, passed away in her home in Everett, WA, on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. Lorelei was born on September 19, 1956, in Manila, Philippines, to Lourdes R. and Rafael J. Lamarca. She attended Saint Anthony School in Manila. In December of 1970, Lorelei immigrated to Washington. She graduated from Everett High School in 1974, and soon took a job as a nursing assistant at Virginia Manor Convalescent Center. In 1986, Lorelei graduated from Everett Community College with a degree in nursing, and soon embarked on a career as a registered nurse at General Hospital of Everett (now known as Providence Regional Medical Center, Everett). In her 30 years at the hospital, she touched the lives of countless patients and coworkers. If you've ever been treated there, the possibility is strong that your RN or CNA was mentored by Lorelei, directly or indirectly, for by just observing her in action was to learn much about loving compassion for patients and unconditional commitment to their best care. On December 3, 1988, she married Larry Michael James, a radiologic technologist she met while working at the hospital. Together, they had two sons. Lorelei cherished traveling with her family as well as spending time with friends. She also enjoyed attending concerts, including Trans Siberian Orchestra, Paul McCartney, Boston and her favorite rock band, Journey. Lorelei loved fiercely, fought courageously and cared relentlessly. Lorelei is survived by her husband, Larry; sons, Lucas and Logan; the "Bs" - siblings, Bernadette Lamarca, Rolando (Miryan) Lamarca, Rafael (Franseen) Lamarca, Maria Lamarca Anderson, and Leilani (David Berlinguette) Lamarca; brother-in-law Michael Anderson; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents in 2017. The family will greet friends at a viewing on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, from noon until 5:00 p.m. at Solie Funeral Home in Everett. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Magdalen Parish in Everett. Burial will follow at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline, WA. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County or the American Brain Tumor Association in Lorelei's name.
