Juanita Marshall

September 18, 1933 — August 24, 2021

Devoted wife and mother, Juanita (Nita) Marshall's life passed through to the arms of her lord on August 25, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones, who will continue to honor her legacy by living lives to the fullest with devotion to their families and friends. Born and raised in Forest Grove, Oregon, she moved to the Everett area in 1969 with her husband and family. Shortly thereafter, she completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in education at the University of Washington. She began her teaching career in the Arlington School District and then moved to the Everett School District. She was a devoted reading teacher for many children and loved working with families to help bring out each child's unique gifts. She and her husband, Dixon, were active in the schools volunteering and creating community. Nita adored supporting her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and any of their friends who passed through the door. She was the most enthusiastic cheerleader at their sporting events, a devoted seamstress for costumes and recitals, and was always ready to play dress up. Her home had an open door where family and friends were welcomed with a warm hug, an ear to listen, mentorship for learning and plenty of favorite snacks. She was affectionately known as Gram to anyone who walked through the door. Nita's strong Christian faith was the guiding light in all aspects of her life. It was the guiding principle in how she raised her children, treated her friends and contributed in her church and community. Nita is survived by her husband of 69 years, Dixon, their children; Dixon Marshall Jr., Paula Marshall, William Smith, William Marshall, Sandy and Carl Mitchell, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and her sister Marcy Anderberg. She will be dearly miss, but we know she is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 5th at 2:00pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Snohomish, WA. There will be a half hour viewing preceding the service at 1:15pm and a reception will follow the service where friends and family are welcome to join in celebrating Nita's life. Additional information is available, and tributes can be made at https://www.soliefunerals.com. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Martin at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), who helped give us six wonderful years with our beloved mom. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SCCA. Cards can be sent to Dixon Marshall & Family in care of Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Avenue, Everett, WA 98201. ...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on the wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 53:31
