Jose Alejandro Urbizo Mendez

August 12, 1970 — February 22, 2022

Jose Alejandro Urbizo Mendez was man who loved those around him but was loved more than he ever knew. His life began on August 12th, 1970, in Zitacuaro, Michoacan, Mexico. This would soon be his favorite place. He was the fourth child out of six children who which were raised by his grandparents. However, his older brother, Arnuflo Urbizo also got the responsibility of taking care of him and his other siblings. Ever since Jose was young, he had a special charisma and a bright personality to him. His specialty was being able to make anyone laugh regardless of if he knew them or not. He was also a bright and smart child, however he disliked school as he saw no future in Mexico. Because of this, he decided at the age of 17 to immigrate to the United States with his parents Arnulfo Urbizo and Maria Mendez. Jose first came to California with his parents, and this is where he got his GED while working. Even though he did not like school, his motivation was having a better future for not only himself, but for his future family. He later took on the role of a manager at a salad factory. He met a man by the name of Javier, which he would soon thank for introducing him to the love of his life. Jose and Javier soon became good friends, and they would travel to San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico to visit family Javier had there. When going there one day, he recognized a woman. This women, Eloina Perez Martinez, was one of Javier's nieces from which he showed a picture to Jose. A couple weeks went by, and they started dating. They met in December, Jose asked her to marry her on February 14th, and they got married on March 13th, 1998. Jose and Eloina moved to Seattle, Washington soon after they got married. Jose had the idea to start his own roofing company with one of his older brothers after working some time in roofs. From here, the best decision of his life blossomed. Urbizo Bros Roofing started in 2003 and his oldest brother Arnulfo soon came from Mexico to help them out. Jose would soon say their company was "the best in the west for the very less in the whole entire universe." Jose and Eloina had their first child named Alex Urbizo, and their second child Itzel Urbizo almost exactly four years later. Jose made sure to teach his kids right from wrong and important beliefs. He made sure also tell them to work hard in whatever they want to do in life. His kids will continue to incorporate these beliefs and advice from their dad to honor him. Being able to be in Jose's presence was truly an honor. He was the life of the party wherever he went. His laugh was contagious, and he always able to put a smile on everyone's face. His intelligence and curiosity got him far in life. His extremely hard work ethic also contributed to his wide success. But what made him stand out from every man was that he was the ideal husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend; one that was always there with you in the good and bad moments. He always said he had the whole package, being both handsome and smart. Now that he is no longer here, his loved ones know there was more to this package than he knew. Jose Alejandro Urbizo Mendez was the best in the whole entire universe. "Men like the men we are: smoke, drink, and do whatever we want." -Jose Alejandro Urbizo Mendez
