Jean was born in Washington DC in 1969 and passed away January 29, 2017 at the age of 47 in Bothell Washington losing a five-year battle with cancer. Jean was a US Navy veteran serving on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz. After leaving the Navy Jean worked in the electronics industry then took a break to focus on raising her family of three boys and spend time working in and leading church children's ministry programs. She felt a calling to get more involved with abused and neglected women and children. Jean began social work involvement obtaining an Associate Degree from Edmonds Community College and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors, Magna Cum Laude in Social Welfare from the University of Washington in 2016. She was a member of Phi Kappa Beta, Americas oldest honor society. Jean was especially happy that she was able to participate in research work and writing a chapter in a university level social welfare text book. She was accepted into the University of Washington Master's Degree program having to drop out due to a re-occurrence of cancer in the fall of 2016. Jean loved her university internship at Children's Services and time working at Mary's Place in Seattle. Jeans interests included gardening, butterflies and birds, hiking, boating with the family in Arizona and the Puget Sound, and music where she participated in church singing groups and community Christmas choirs. Jean had a number of interests that only a few people knew of including poetry and writing, martial arts with a number of 1st place trophies from tournaments, involvement in the Society for Creative Anachronism specializing in swordsmanship, and an interest in photography. Jean is survived by her Mother, Barbara Jean Wells, her husband, Fred Anderson, three sons Patrick, David and Kyle, two step sons David and Fredrick, and we can't forget to include one of her number one fans, Zyta, her Chihuahua buddy and companion that wanted to go with Jean wherever she went including her university graduation ceremony.
