Irene Wanda Domanowski
February 9,1925 - November 15, 2023
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Irene Domanowski on November 15, 2023. She was 98 years old and died peacefully in her sleep at Bethany at Pacific in Everett, Washington.
Irene was born in College Point, New York on Feb. 9, 1925 to Victor and Victoria (Lojek) Hondzenski and grew up in Queens, New York during the Great Depression. She worked as a clerk-typist before marrying John Domanowski and then devoted her life to being a homemaker and raising 3 children while living on Long Island, New York. In the 1980s, she and John moved to Washington to be near their children and eventually settled in Lake Stevens.
Irene was a wonderful and selfless person who always put others before herself. Generous, kind, patient, and considerate, she was the heart and soul of our family. She gave us comfort, advice, support, hugs and unconditional love. Irene was a sociable, friendly person with a cheerful disposition, quick wit and contagious laugh. She was an avid reader, compulsive recipe collector, great cook and amateur nutritionist. Her happiest moments were when she was gathered with family enjoying a good meal along with her signature vodka cocktail. A caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she was deeply loved and cherished by us all and we are so fortunate to have had her in our lives.
She is lovingly remembered by her 3 children, Diane Stephens (Don), Michael Domanowski (Chong) and William Domanowski (Annie), sister Mary McDonald, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Stanley Honden.
We want to thank the staff at Bethany at Pacific as well as Alpha Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
Arrangements are handled by Solie Funeral Home and Crematory.
On November 29, there will be visitation at 11 am at Our Lady of Hope Chapel in Everett followed by mass at 12 noon.
Thank you, Mom, for all that you’ve done for us, for all your love, and for all the happy memories we’ve shared. Always loving, always loved, forever in our hearts.
