Harold Smith

September 7, 1953 — March 29, 2018

September 7, 1953 ~ March 29, 2018 Harold Lloyd Smith, age 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Everett, Washington on March 29th, 2018. He was born on September 7th, 1953 in Kingston, Jamaica to Stanley Smith and Margaret Edwards-Smith. Harold attended the Wolmer's Boys School and was a stellar athlete, earning championship titles in: hurdles, soccer as a goal-keeper, class-2 high jumper, and triple jump. While in Jamaica, Harold met and married Kay Tingling and they both left Jamaica to Gainesville, Florida. Harold attended the University of Florida where he earned a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration and, soon after, a Master's of Business Administration. Several years later, they moved to Miami where they had Alicia Smith, his daughter. He moved to Jamaica and spent some time there and then took a trip to Hawaii where he then later moved. In Hawaii, he met and married Regine Herr at Paradise Cove at Ko Olina on September 7th, 1996. Harold's love extended to Oliver and Benjamin, Regine's sons, and took them on as his own children. Harold continued to build his career and love his family and his job. In 2005, Harold, Regine and step-son Benjamin moved to Washington State and, soon after, Oliver later met them. In Washington, Harold continued to grow his career and foundation for his family. In addition to working in the banking industry, Harold contributed his knowledge and skills and served on the Board of Directors for a non-profit organization, Friends of the Children, committed to breaking the cycle of generational poverty through mentoring children. In his spare time, he loved watching horse racing, spending time with his family, and cheering on his favorite football team (the Miami Dolphins). Harold is survived by his wonderful wife of 22 years, Regine; daughters Alicia, Mary (daughter-in-law) and Karina; son-in-laws Oliver and Benjamin; siblings Karol, Peggy, and Roy; and 4 grandchildren. A visitation is to be held at Solie Funeral Home on Friday April 6th, from 10am to 4pm. A memorial video has been prepared for Harold that may be viewed here.
