Elizabeth Ann Burns

Elizabeth Ann Dunlap Burns (Bette), 88, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at Shoreline Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shoreline, Washington. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 8, 1933, the daughter of the late John and Rose (Forman) Dunlap. She attended school in Mundelein, Illinois where she graduated high school. She retired from J.C. Penny in 1995 as a retail sales person. Bette continued to work as a house and dog sitter after her retirement and volunteered at the Mukilteo Lighthouse. She was an avid cribbage player and gardener. She loved her retirement community, where she lived for over 30 years and took great pleasure in managing their social calendar. She was a pillar of that community, where she helped manage the food store for those residents in need. She was a loving mother and a doting grandmother She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Lynn Burns Mitchell, and by her sister Pat Dunlap Ming. Survivors include her brother, Dennis Dunlap and his wife, Sue and her eight children - William Lawrence Burns, Timothy John Burns and his wife Ann, Linda Louise Burns, Cynthia Lee Burns Leslie, Nicholas Morrison Salvino, Mark Anthony Burns and his wife Beth, Nancy Leigh Burns Nolker and her husband Mike, and Daniel Joseph Salvino and wife Laurie, her twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bette will be interned at Holyrood Cemetery on June 5, 2021. In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mukilteo Historical Society at https://mukilteohistorical.org/support-shop/donate.
