Edward Emery Dunn was born February 7, 1958, in Long Beach California to the parents of Ronald and Margaret Vian Dunn. He passed away on August 14, 2024, in Monroe, Washington.
Edard attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School on to California State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Management. Ed later went to thrive in a career as Captain for American Airlines. A job held for 37 years. He also was a member of several associations: American Airlines Pilot’s Union, VARA, MG club of America, Boy Scouts of America, CASA and Carehouse.
Ed enjoyed riding dirt bikes, deep sea fishing, playing pinball, boating and sailing, flying planes, restoring vintage cars, water skiing, snow skiing, reading, watching anything by Larry David, listening to records, buying and selling vehicles, long road trips, reading car and driver magazine and stalking people’s houses on Zillow.
He loved giving life advice and helping friends figure out what moves to take to make them happier. He made friends and connections everywhere. He was totally magnetic, and people were drawn to him. His shop was dubbed the “Men’s Therapy Center.” Was the biggest encourager and cheerleader for his kids and friends. He was a dreamer and always wanted to explore something new. Ed had the best, dryest, sillies sense of humor. Lita Ford had a crush on him in Junior high school! He was in a band called “Hot Scum Stew.”
Ed got his first car at 3 years old, a 1940 Pontiac from his uncle started an annual neighborhood car show and tractor race. He bought and sold over 50 cars and built a designed homes for the family. At the age of 18 Ed started taking lessons at Long Beach Airport Ed took lessons where he later became an instructor. After that he moved in his career as a commercial airline pilot. He also started multiple successful businesses.
Ed is survived by his wife Julie. His children Stephanie Dunn Walsh (Stephen), Eric Emery Dunn (Giang) and Trevor Endicott Dunn. Siblings Barbara Dunn Baxter and Marilyn Dunn Seites. As well as grandchildren; Liam Walsh, Darcie Walsh and Maisie Walsh.
There will be a private family service held at the family’s home in September of this year and a larger Celebration of Life held the last weekend of July 2025. All are invited to the car show and tractor race held in Ed’s memory in Monroe, Washington.
Donations in Ed’s memory can be made to Fed Hutchinson Cancer Center (Attn pancreatic cancer) as well as CASA of Snohomish County where Ed was a court appointed representative for neglected youth.
