DONALD RAY HENDRICKSON 1922-2022 Donald Ray Hendrickson, long-time resident of the Sunnyside area of Marysville, died Friday, January 21, 2022, in Marysville. He was 99 years old. Don was born on November 16, 1922, in La Crosse, Washington to Norwegian immigrants Sigurd and Anna Hendrickson. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1942 and married his high school sweetheart, Marian Koplitz, on November 19, 1942. He loved to share the story of how they met in their journalism class where she was convinced to help with his homework. Shortly after his wedding, Don enlisted and proudly served during World War II in the Army's 41st Infantry Division in the South Pacific. He told how he sailed straight to Australia and fought all the way up to Japan. He was awarded the Purple Heart. After the war, Don tried out a few jobs, but eventually signed on with Scott Paper Company as a machinist, where he retired after many years. Don lived most of his life on a small farm in the Sunnyside area of Marysville. The farm has been in his family for over 100 years. He had a love for small time farming and tractor work and was always willing to lend a hand to help anyone who needed something done or fixed. Don is preceded in death by his parents Sigurd and Anna Hendrickson, stepmother Viola Hendrickson, brothers Stan, Art and Myron Hendrickson, wife Marian Hendrickson, sons Larry and Gary Hendrickson, son-in-law Charlie Baker and grandsons Eric Hendrickson and PJ Baker. He is survived by daughter Margie Baker, son Alan (Lynette) Hendrickson, daughters-in-law Janette Hendrickson and Mary Kay Rolwes, and ten grandchildren; Matt Baker, Tim (Melissa) Baker, Melissa (Raymond) Hobbs, Michelle Hendrickson, Greg (Mariah) Hendrickson, Donnie (Megan) Hendrickson, Jody (Will) Hill, Mo Hendrickson, Kevin (Patty) Hendrickson and Laura (Ryan) Schultz, as well as 22 great-grandchildren; Camilia, Mackenzie, Blaik, Zachary, Ashten, Dane, Grace, Carson, Conner, Isaac, Brooklyn, Kailey, Jackson, Miles, Bentley, Peyton, Lilly, Jeana, Audrey, Addison, Asher and Alexandria. A visitation will take place from 1-4 pm on Wednesday, February 2, at Solie Funeral Home, 3301 Colby Ave., Everett, WA. A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, February 3, at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, 1615 SE Everett Mall Way, Everett, WA. Due to Covid, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Don's name may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 7215 51st Ave NE, Marysville, WA 98270. Arrangements were entrusted to Solie Funeral Home and Crematory, Everett, WA.
