 Cathie Marie Howard passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, in Washington. She was a kind and gentle soul, known for giving affectionate nicknames to those she cherished. 

Cathie had an eye for elegance and sophistication, which was reflected in her impeccable fashion sense and the stylish interiors of the homes she remodeled with her beloved husband, Jerry.

An avid reader with a special passion for recipes and cookbooks, Cathie delighted in creating and personalizing recipes, making her kitchen a place of comfort and delight. She also had a deep affection for her beloved dogs and found peace and happiness in long walks with them.

Cathie’s adventurous spirit shone through in her sailing trips with her son Joshua in Southern California and her travels to Singapore to visit her daughter Emily. She brought beauty and grace with her anywhere she went. 

Cathie graduated from Northview High School in 1968, earned her associate degree from Grand Rapids Junior College in 1970 and went on to attend Western Michigan University. Her career in merchandising at Steketee’s department store highlighted her talent for fashion and design. Later after raising her two children, she became a beloved preschool teacher at her church, Newport Presbyterian in Bellevue, WA. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine Goldammer Cossin and David Cossin. She is survived by her loving husband, Gerald Howard; her children, Joshua (Tara) Howard and Emily (Matt) Hulen; and her cherished grandchildren, Tobin, Henry, Oliver, Eleanor, and Claire. She also leaves behind her sisters, Michele (Jeffrey) Grose and Claire (David) Merrill; her brother, Richard (Perri) Cossin; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Cathie's legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and boundless love. Her memory will live on in the love she shared and the lives she touched.
