She was 80 years old when she passed peacefully with her children by her side in Edmonds, Washington. Barb was the daughter of James and Dorothy Sorley and was born in Vancouver, B.C., on June 26, 1944. Barb graduated with honors from North Surrey High School in 1961. She then attended Briercrest College in Saskatchewan graduating in 1967. Additionally, Barb earned degrees from Everett Community College in 1980 and a B.S. in Business and Marketing from City University in 1983. She met the love of her life, Vic Chapman, at Briercrest College, and they married in 1967. Barb leaves behind her two children, Craig Chapman and Crissy Robinson (Terry), as well as her two grandchildren, Victoria Robinson and TJ Robinson. After her time at EVCC, she became a campaign manager and senate aide to Senator Val Stevens and also served as an aide for County Councilman John Koster. Barb was a sitting board member for the Everett Symphony. Barb attended social and political events almost daily. When she had downtime from her busy schedule, she liked to walk on the beach in Everett and tend to her yard, flowers, and garden.

"Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord." I Thess 4:17
