Christine Dorsey

January 13, 1917 — March 12, 2018

January 13, 1917-March 12, 2018 Christine Dorsey, grandmother, mother, teacher, and friend passed away peacefully on March 12, 2018 at the age of 101. She was born in Rindal, Norway January 13, 1917. She came to the United States with her parents, Michael and Ingeborg Rindal at the age of six and the family settled in Conway, WA. She was always proud of her Norwegian heritage . Christine attended Conway grade school and graduated from Mount Vernon High School. She received a degree in education from Western Washington College of Education in 1946. Her teaching career began at the Stanwood School District and from there she went to the Everett School District where she taught at Washington School, was principal at Baker Heights, and for the last 18 years of a much rewarding and enjoyable 39 years in education, she taught at Whittier School. Christine loved teaching and always tried to give encouragement and praise to her students. She has kept in touch with many through the years. Christine was honored by the Everett PTA Council, the Golden Acorn Award for service to children. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society for Women's Teachers and the Retired Teachers Association. Christine married Glen Dorsey in 1946. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage until Glen's death in 1988. Much of Christine's life has been centered around her family. She especially enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren, Jacob and Rachel, and visiting their school and sports activities. They were the joy of her life. Being a member of Central Lutheran Church held a very special place in her life. Through the years she taught Sunday school, took part in church organizations and sang in the choir. Christine leaves her son, David (Roxann); granddaughter, Rachel; grandson, Jacob (Katie); great grandson, William; and stepdaughter, Dawn Archer (Bob). Christine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen; twin boys, Michael and Richard; brothers, Arne and Johnny Rindal; and sister, Gladys Peck. The family wishes to thank Christine and Amanda from New Horizon Adult Family Home for the wonderful care they gave Christine in her final months . Services are planned at Central Lutheran Church on March 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to Central Lutheran Church, Assistance League of Everett, or charity of your choice.
